This is the two hundred ninth entry in the Scratching That Itch series, wherein I randomly select and write about one of the 1741 games and game-related things included in the itch.io Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality. The Bundle raised $8,149,829.66 split evenly between the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund and Community Bail Fund, but don’t worry if you missed it. There are plenty of ways you can help support the vital cause of racial justice; try here for a start. Lastly, as always, you may click on images to view larger versions.
Our two hundred ninth random selection from the itch.io Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality is asking us to get colorful. It’s Fairyland Familiars Coloring Book, by Innokas Media, and it’s messing up my intro formatting by having no tagline in the bundle at all.
Do you miss coloring books? Then I have good news for you! Fairyland Familiars Coloring Book offers 14 illustrations by Anniina Seppä, made with bold, black outlines waiting to be colored in. As the title suggests, the drawings are of fantastical creatures like unicorns, gnomes, and dragons, and people are encouraged to share their colored versions over social media and to share the book itself privately, as long as the art is not used for commercial purposes. A few colored examples are featured on the front and back cover and select pages within, so I’ve nabbed some of those to accompany this post.
The book is offered as a PDF file, and it includes both portrait and landscape illustrations. The various creatures all look pretty friendly, even the dragons. I suspect that’s because they are all supposed to be familiars: helpful spirits who assist witches and others in magic. That means the book is suited for all ages, so if there’s a little one (or a big one!) in your life who would enjoy coloring in some fairyland friends, by all check out Fairyland Familiars Coloring Book. Best of all, it’s offered free of charge, even for those who didn’t nab the bundle.
And if you like the art, consider checking out Anniina Seppä’s blog, as well as some other stuff by Innokas Media, which is run by Anniina and their sibling Kristiina. Fun fact: Anniina lists Transistor as their favorite game, and I’ve written about it (and its soundtrack) for this very blog!
That’s 209 down, and only 1532 to go!
